Hyde Park - Edmund John Lueken, 74, a forty-nine year Hyde Park resident died Friday, April 26, 2013, at home with his loving family by his side.
Born March 30, 1939 in Queens, he was the son of the late Theodore and Elizabeth Bloemer Lueken.
Mr. Lueken graduated from Newton High School, where he was a track record setter. He then proudly served in the United States Army.
He went on to graduate from Marist College, and worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie for thirty years, retiring in 1994.
He was a communicant of Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park.
Ed was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also liked working around the house, feeding the birds, and tending to his koi pond.
On August 27, 1966 In Queens Village, he married Rosemary Von Ancken.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Laura M. McAlonen and husband, Kevin, of Burnt Hills, NY and Melissa J. Short and husband, Bradley, of Poughquag, NY; six grandchildren, Jordan, Kristin, and Jared McAlonen, and Kayla, Thomas, and Jake Short; brother, Ted Lueken of Commack, NY; and a niece, Jennifer Redmond of Hauppage, NY.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Sunday, April 28th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Monday April 29th at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Copake Falls.
Ed loved animals and his family respectfully requests memorial donations to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
