Elizabeth Guerrina

Poughkeepsie - Lizbeth Guerrina, who embodied the essence of love and life, left us on October 11, after a long courageous battle with colon cancer. Lizbeth was born on February 21, 1939 in NYC to Angela and Porfirio Pereyra. It was in Poughkeepsie, NY where she lived for most of her life and created a loving and nurturing home with her family. Lizbeth was a Nationally acclaimed Portrait photographer, she built a highly successful photography business, with long time associate Pauline Taricco, from a small studio in Poughkeepsie, New York for over 40 years ago. A photograph by "Lizbeth" became a coveted work of art as she captured the beauty and essence of her clients in memorable images. She earned a unique position in the world of portrait photography as she spread her passion and artistry through inspirational seminars across the country; her impassioned style of presentation and personal mentoring created a loyal following. She traveled extensively with a select group of women photographers who gave workshops to aspiring photographers. They shared their own personal visions and skills to others and to each other. In truth, however, the core of Lizbeth's life was not her great achievements in the professional world, but in her love of family and friends. She embraced each member of her large and extended family with an even higher passion than her work. She gave wise counsel to her loved ones and helped each to achieve their goals. Her love of life and celebration was the source of many memorable family travels and joyful occasions. Her children, Mary Beth, Michael, and Mario, Richard and Cathy as well as her grandchildren Ryan, Caroline, Mia Rose, Heather, Jessica and Melissa, nieces and dozens of cousins and close friends were her sustenance though life's joys and pain. She in turn imbued them with an everlasting sense of love and support. Lizbeth was predeceased by her daughter Susan. Lizbeth's life itself is an image captured forever. A memorial will be held at Locust Grove on October 28th from 4-8pm.
