Stanfordville - Ernest 'Patsy' Liefer, 80, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Northern Dutchess Hospital.

Patsy resided in Schultzville for 42 years prior to moving to Stanfordville 10 years ago. He had worked for Williams Lumber in Salt Point and Dutchess Quarry and Supply before becoming a service technician for KOSCO; he retired in 1989.

Patsy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and dancing to country music. His most enjoyable times were spent on his golf cart filled with his grandchildren and animals. Patsy was seen all over Stanfordville riding in his golf cart. He was a former volunteer fireman with the Lagrange Fire Co. #1

Born March 5, 1932 in Poughkeepsie he was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Small) Liefer.

At a young age Patsy moved to the Ryan Family Farm in Billings and was raised there with his sisters Gussie Wilson and Vernice Perez. Patsy remained very close to the Ryan family all his life, especially the late John Ryan, John's son Rich and his family.

On November 22, 1953, Patsy married Jean R. Haight; in 2012 the couple celebrated 59 years of marriage together.

In addition to his loving wife; he is survived by three children, Kevin Liefer and his wife Margaret of Port Charlotte, FL; Sherry Johnson and her husband Robert of Wappingers Falls; Timothy Liefer and his wife Patricia O'Malley of Rhinebeck; three grandchildren Justin Liefer, Gregory Johnson and Trevor Liefer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter Maggie O'Malley, six brothers, Joseph, Walter, Frank, Thomas, George and William; and four sisters Catherine, Gussie, Mary and Vernice.

Calling hours are Tuesday, 4 to 8 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. Funeral Services are Wednesday, 11 AM, at the Clinton Alliance Church, Centre Rd., Schultzville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Wurtemburg Cemetery
