Eugene B. Duffy Sr.

Poughkeepsie - Eugene B. Duffy Sr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Dec 31, 2012. Eugene was born on August 20, 1934 in the Bronx, New York City; he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Duffy. Eugene is survived by his children Kathleen Lloyd of Poughkeepsie, Lisa Duffy of New Jersey, William Duffy of Fishkill and Eugene Duffy Jr. of Poughkeepsie, 8 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren, his sisters Anne Ramppen, Mary Hall, Barbara Lewandowsky, his brother Patrick Duffy and many loving nieces, nephews and a goddaughter. He is predeceased by his brother Charles Duffy and his nephew Michael Duffy.

Eugene attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Bronx, NY where he graduated and enlisted in the United States Navy for one year then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving overseas where he proudly served during the Korean War.

Eugene was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine corps and went to work for Pepsi Corp. before being employed with the MTA driving a NYC Bus for 25 years until his retirement in 1980. Gene enjoyed his retirement and spent it doing all the things he loved like camping, fishing, snowmobiling and being with his family and friends. Gene lived his life to the fullest and lived by his motto, "there won't be any grass growing under my feet". Graveside funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Rhinebeck Cemetery with military honors. There are no calling hours.
