1928 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
Fortuna M. Amodeo Webster

Poughkeepsie - Fortuna entered into rest at home with her daughter, Gaetana Webster and her granddaughters Adrianna Smith and Carina Salom at her side. She was 83.

Fortuna was born in Monteforte, Italy on October 27, 1928. Along with her mother, Gaetana Coppola Amodeo, sister Ann Amodeo DiRienzo, and brothers Thomas, John and Albert Amodeo (All Deceased), she came to this country in 1936 during the Great Depression.

Fortuna worked for many years for the Marlboro Central School District, then later for IBM as a senior secretary. She and her brother Albert also co-ran a small clothing and shoe store in Marlboro, founded by their father, Antonio Amodeo.

Fortuna was a past President of the Charles Vieby Post #124 American Legion Auxiliary, Former member of the Catholic Daughters and the Marlboro-Milton Seniors but her passion was her family. A lifetime of work, the sacrifices that she made, her loving, caring and generous spirit will never be forgotten - they live in all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Fortuna was known as Aunt "Pete" to her many nieces and nephews and she took great joy in spending time with them. To her granddaughters, "Nana" was a second mother, involved in every facet of their lives, a limitless source of love and encouragement. To her daughter, she was simply the best - mother, advisor, confidant, friend, and inspiration. We will miss her always.
