Jan Weido Obituary

Jan Weido

Stanfordville - Jan Weido, beloved husband of Nancy Clancy, died suddenly on Oct. 1, 2011. His family, Mother Elizabeth Weido, Brother Jerry Weido, step-son Patrick Clancy, his wife Aleksandra Clancy, and their son Michael, step-son Erin Clancy, his wife Erin Clancy, and their daughters, Crystal, Melissa and Meghan, will always remember his love for them and his generous spirit. His extended family with roots in Western PA and friends all around the country will also miss their loving connection to him.

Jan was a dedicated fly fisherman and hunter, advocate for children and friend to so many . Jan spent many happy hours, planning fishing trips and hunting trips to be with friends who shared his passion for the outdoors. Time he spent with his grandchildren was a total joy for him. He was dedicated to his job at the Astor Home for Children in Rhinebeck and made many strong connections there and in The Town of Rhinebeck. Jan loved living in Stanfordville, where his connections were just as strong. His loss has been felt by so many friends that had a heart-to-heart connection with him.

Jan did a lot of volunteer work for many organizations. He has been a long time member of Trout Unlimited, a conservation organization that serves all of Dutchess County. His work with stream access and youth will be preserved and remembered. Jan did not want any services, he donated his body to the Anatomical Gift Program at The Albany Medical College, in Albany NY. The family wishes that those who would like to remember him send notes and donations in his name to: Mid-Hudson Trout Unlimited, PO Box 982, Poughkeepsie, NY 12602

Any funds received in Jan's name will be put in a dedicated fund for boys' and girls' tuition to Conservation and Fishing camps.

Thinking of you today and all we shared. I enjoyed your presence always and we talked and laughed a lot. You are missed by many but never forgotten. You helped to bless the lives of many and were respected by all.

Jan's passing leaves a very big hole for so many. He had such a big personality and such a great presence. Our hearts go out to the Weido and Clancy families.
