Rhinebeck-Jane Battell Bush, a resident of the Baptist Home, Rhinebeck, NY, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012.

Born July 29, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of Elizabeth Straley Battell and John Battell.

Jane graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, NY. She then went on to the Katherine Gibbs School of Business in New York, NY.

Jane married Alfred G. Keenan in 1940 and moved to Hawthorne NY to raise their children, Elizabeth (Buffy ) and Christopher. Alfred died in 1953. Jane then married Thomas Ruane and they had two daughters, Lynne and Wendy.

Sometime after a divorce, Jane met and married Boyce (Sonny) Bush and moved to Stony Point NY in 1967 and resided there until 2003.

Jane worked as a caregiver for the NYS Office of Developmental Disabilities and retired at the age of 82. When not at work, Jane enjoyed poetry, reading, music, crossword puzzles, boating on the Hudson, gardening and her extended family.

Jane is survived by her son , Christopher Keenan and his wife Irene of Clinton Corners, NY ; her daughter Elizabeth Gertz and her husband Edward of Kent Lakes, NY ; her daughter Lynne Pinney and her husband Jeffery of Spring Hill, Florida. Her youngest daughter, Wendy Battell of Oneonta, NY predeceased her in 1998. Jane is also survived by seven grandchildren, Dawn, Cheryl and Audrey; Maureen and Kelly; Chris and Dylan, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her brother Jack Straley Battell

Jane's family, friends and all who knew her will miss her striking beauty, poise, intelligence and especially her gracious sense of humor.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family asks that memorial donations be sent to the Baptist Home, 46 Brookmeade Drive, Rhinebeck, NY 12572 or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road Suite 200, Bethesda, MD.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck, NY 12572.
