Amenia, NY - Jill M. Caldarelli, 58, a lifelong resident of Amenia, NY, died on Monday April 15, 2013 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Mrs. Caldarelli was a residential unit supervisor at Taconic DDSO in Wassaic, NY for 25 years retiring in 2010.

Born on October 14, 1954 in Sharon, CT she was the daughter of the late Edward and Eva (Decker) Ackerman. Mrs. Caldarelli was a graduate of Webutuck High School class of 1972. In 1993, in Amenia, NY, she married Glenn S. Caldarelli who survives at home.

Mrs. Caldarelli was a life member, former first lieutenant and served on the board of directors of the Wassaic Fire Company. During her tenure in the Wassaic Fire Company she was a qualified truck driver, line operator and fire police officer. She was also a charter member of the Wassaic Rescue Squad. Mrs. Caldarelli was also a member of the Amenia Fire Company and former First Lieutenant of the Amenia Rescue Squad. She was proud to be the first female line officer in Dutchess County. She also worked the Wassaic Fire Company Bingo for many years and was an avid pool player and belonged to the American Pool Association.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Michael Neal and his girlfriend, Nicole Smith, of Dover Plains, NY and Patrick Caldarelli of Amenia, NY; a daughter, Kayla Caldarelli of Amenia, NY; four brothers, Thomas and Randy Ackerman of Wassaic, NY, David Ackerman of New Milford, CT and Michael Ackerman of Dover Plains, NY; two sisters, JoAnne Diamonti of Canaan, CT and Heidi Short of Mt. Carmel, IL. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler and Havyn Neal. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert Ackerman and a sister, Eva May Ackerman, Jr.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. The Wassaic and Amenia Fire Companies will conduct firematic services at 7:15 p.m. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013 at the South Amenia Presbyterian Church, 229 South Amenia Road, Wassaic, NY.
