Hopewell Junction - John T. Kiely, 86 years old, of Hopewell Junction, formerly of Yorktown Heights, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 3, 1927 in New York City and was the son of the late Thomas Walter and Jane Markey Kiely.
John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during WW II. He was employed as a Marketing Manager for New York Telephone in New York City until his retirement. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction and served many years volunteering for the parish and his community.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Madeline Snow, who died August 3, 1997. He is survived by his loving children, Patricia Buckley and her husband, John, John Kiely, Jr. and his wife, Arlene, Reverend Thomas P. Kiely, Kathleen Killeen and her husband, Gerard, Michael Kiely and his wife, Jeannette and Madeline Kiely and his most beloved best friend for the past twelve years, Carol Neves. He was also survived by fifteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and was predeceased by three sisters.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 900 Rt. 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla with full military honors.
