KENT, CT - Kelvin J. Arden, 89, died peacefully Christmas Morning 2012 at the Kent Specialty Care Center in Kent, CT. He was Director of Communications at Cornell University. An expert in typography and design, Mr. Arden pioneered the field of College and University Publications. He served in World War II in five campaigns: Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe, including more than 300 days within 1,000 yards of the front lines with the 92nd Chemical Mortar Battalion. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed photography, fishing, sailing, jazz music and painting. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Kent, Daughter Jenny (Steve Rock) of Poughkeepsie, son Erik (Sandy) of Lockport, and grandchildren Tiffany Flynn (Michael) of Lockport, Tianna Morrow (William) of Cape Cod, and Andrew and Julia Rock of Poughkeepsie, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, caregivers, and many others.
