POUGHKEEPSIE - Margaret "Peggy" Duclos, 80, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the River Valley Care Center.
She was born in Poughkeepsie on February 27, 1934, the daughter of the late Edward and Elma O'Neil.
On April 27, 1956 at St. Joseph's Church, Poughkeepsie, she married Nelson Duclos, Jr., who survives at home.
Margaret started as a hairdresser for Wallace's in Poughkeepsie and went on to have her own shop for many years until her retirement.
Margaret is survived by 2 sisters, Patricia Martin and her husband Ronald of Red Hook, and Michele Harris and her husband Dale of Wappingers Falls; 2 brothers-in-law, Ronald Duclos and his wife Carol of Pleasant Valley and Elwood Duclos of Indiana; 1 sister-in-law, Dorothy Hennessey and her husband George of Cape Coral,Fl.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by 2 sisters-in-law, Florence and John Northrop and Eunice and Raymond Ward.
Margaret loved to bowl and go to yard sales. She loved plants and won many ribbons at the Dutchess County Fair. Margaret's biggest passion was her poodle dogs.
The family would like to thank everyone at River Valley Care Center for all the love and care they gave to Margaret. It was greatly appreciated.
Visiting hours will be Monday, May 12 from 5-8 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, May 13 at 9:30 am from St. Joseph's Church, 9 Lafayette Pl., Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
