Poughkeepsie - Marie Ethel Vincent, 88, a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the Lutheran Care Center, Poughkeepsie.
Born January 12, 1924 in the Town of Washington (Millbrook), she was the daughter of the late William and Della Sutherland Sherow. She attended Millbrook Schools.
She was a beautician at Bella Donna Salon in Poughkeepsie for many years, until her retirement.
Marie had a wide circle of good friends who were like family. She was a very generous spirit and had a "heart of gold" to all that were fortunate enough to know her.
Her house was always cheerful and tastefully decorated for each season and she enjoyed crafts and creating beautiful wreaths, which she shared with family and friends. She loved Christmas and left a fully decorated artificial tree up for over 10 years.
She was an avid doll collector with dolls from around the world, and you couldn't help but smile seeing all the dolls when you walked into her home.
Marie enjoyed gardening and flowers, especially growing tomatoes and beans in the summer which she also shared with her family and friends.
She and her husband, George, enjoyed boating on the Hudson. They owned three different boats, one of which he affectionately named 'Honey' after her.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Jimmy Williams; and second husband, George Vincent.
Marie is survived by her son, Joseph A. Williams, of Wappingers Falls; sister, Della Wing, of Millbrook; several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Judy Sparhawk of Hyde Park.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by her three sisters, Mary Parks, Dorothy Williams, and Virginia Wing; and brother, Willard (Buzzy) Sherow.
There are no calling hours.
