Fishkill - Mary A. Sturner, 99 years old, a resident of Fishkill and formerly of New Rochelle and the Bronx, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Elant at Fishkill. She was born February 26, 1914 in New York City and was the daughter of the late Michael and Philomena Direnza Lento.
Mary was the wife of the late Francis Sturner who died June 25, 1973. She had been employed as the Parish Secretary for St. Mary's Church in the Bronx for over 25 years until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Mary, Mother of the Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Societies at St. Mary's Church. She was also a member of the Fishkill Senior Citizens and enjoyed singing.
Mary is survived by her beloved children, Stephen Sturner and his wife, Eileen, of Newtown, PA, and Mary Ellen Sisia and her husband, Michael, of Wappingers Falls; cherished grandchildren, Lauren and James Sturner, Matthew Sisia and his wife, Nicolle and Michael Sisia and his wife, Alyssa; and her first great-grandchild, Michael Sisia; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, Fishkill, followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx.
