HYDE PARK - Maureen Cass Amodeo, 69, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at home in Hyde Park. Born Maureen Anne Davis on May 10, 1944, in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of George and Connie Davis. Maureen loved growing up in Manhattan. She worked for the telephone company and American Airlines as a young woman. After moving to Dutchess County, Maureen worked in the retail industry. Later, she became a daycare provider - a job that she loved. Maureen officially retired in 2001 but continued to watch her grandchildren up until her death. Maureen was a woman of strong faith and conviction. She often spoke up and acted upon many injustices. She was a member of Right to Life. Maureen had a strong devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and had a fondness for the Sisters of Charity. She was a parishioner at St. Peter's Church in Hyde Park. On May 2, 1992 she married Vincent J. Amodeo. Mr. Amodeo survives at home.

In addition to her husband, survivors include, her daughters, Kelly Boland and her husband Kevin of Powder Springs, Georgia; Tracy Cass MacKenzie and her husband Dan of Poughkeepsie; Georgeanne Bottjer and her husband Noel of Poughkeepsie; Lauren Amodeo Jones and her husband Larry of Arlington, VA; Dianna Amodeo of Pennsylvania and her "only begotten son," Daniel Cass and his wife Faith of LaGrangeville. Maureen is most proud of her 14 grandchildren: Brian, Casey, Bridget, Maureen, Colleen, Aileen, Margaret, Sarah, Gavin, Claire, Anna, Nolan, Katherine and Sophia. They will all miss her terribly. Maureen is also survived by her sister Tina Dwyer and her husband Bill, brother-in-law Frank Voyez, sister-in-law Joanne Amodeo as well a many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Eugene Cass, Mother, Connie Davis, Father, George Davis and her sister Kathleen Voyez. Calling hours will be held from 2-6pm on Sunday, November 17 at William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home at 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am., Monday, November 18 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, 299 Hudson View Drive, Poughkeepsie, NY.
