Phyllis A. Harris

Henderson, NV - Phyllis A. Harris, 67, of Henderson, NV, originally from Pleasant Valley, NY, passed away at home surrounded by her family and friends on September 28, 2012 after a very brief battle with cancer.

Mrs. Harris was a nurse for over 40 years and was employed at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center and as a nurse administrator for Wassaic Developmental Center. After her retirement, she and her husband moved to St. Cloud, Florida in 2001 and then to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2011.

Phyllis enjoyed many hobbies. She loved to paint, knit, crochet, ceramics, embroider, read, and most of all, spend time with her grandchildren. Some of her favorite pastimes were watching the sun rise and set and listening to her Husband sing just for her and their two dogs, Belle and Bobo. She was a gentle and kind woman and her presence was a blessing to all who knew her. She will be truly missed.

Phyllis was born on November 1, 1944 and is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Joseph Harris; six children: Billy Litts of Florida, Shawn Litts and wife, Lisa, of Hyde Park, NY, Shane Harris and wife, Tracy, of Trussville, AL, Shannon Harris and wife, Dawn, of Clinton Corners, NY, Steven Harris and wife, Lori, of South Carolina, and Ann Marie of New York; one sister: Beverly Shaver and husband, Keith, of South Carolina. She was affectionately known as "Nanny" to her ten grandchildren: Erica, Alyssa, Nicole, Tanner, Julia, Colby, Tyler, Ashley, Kaitlyn and Ryan; one great grandchild: Logan; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Henderson Hospice for their care, comfort and compassion.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 5pm - 8pm at 753 Pumpkin Lane, Clinton Corners, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her loving memory to , PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
