Thomaselli

BEACON - Raymond J. Thomaselli passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, April 4, 2011 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. He was 89.

Born in the Bronx on September 5, 1921, Raymond was the son of the late Anthony and Helen Maguire Thomaselli. Raymond proudly served his country in the Army during World War II.

He was retired from the Beacon City School District. He was a former Vice President and life member of St. Rocco's Society and a member of the Beacon Elks Lodge 1493.

Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Filomena (Fanny) Gerentine Thomaselli, his daughter, Gina Thomaselli, son, Anthony (Zep) Thomaselli and his wife, Jean all of Beacon; three loving grandsons, Anthony, Nicholas and Jamie; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Raymond is also survived by his brother, Richard Thomaselli, Poughkeepsie and was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret McNeil and Frances Groza and his brothers, Anthony and John Thomaselli.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.

Burial will follow at St. Joachim Cemetery, 301 Washington Avenue, Beacon.

A family statement reads: "Dad's lifetime will be remembered for his gruff exterior which always revealed his quick and sharp whit and good natural spirit." The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph George of New Windsor and the nurses of 2N at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital for the care and compassion given to Dad.

Memorial Donations in memory of Raymond may be made to Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 54, Beacon, New York 12508 or to the Melio Bettina St. Rocco's Memorial Scholarship Fund, 26 South Chestnut Street, Beacon, New York 12508.
