Robert Anthony Atwell
Beacon - Atwell, Robert Anthony of Beacon entered into rest Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. He was 78.
Born March 20, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Sidney and Hortense Ryan Atwell.
Robert was a retired Insurance Underwriter for The Hartford as well as Knox Lent and Tucker Insurance Agency, White Plains, NY.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving from 1956-1960, a member of St. Joachim's Church, Beacon, a member of the Elks Club, Beacon, and formerly coached Beacon Junior Baseball League.
On February 2, 1964 in Ozone Park, NY he married Carole Vassallo, Mrs. Atwell survives at home.
In addition to his wife survivors include, two sons, Robert A. Atwell Jr. and his wife Kim of Beacon and Kevin F. Atwell of Beacon, two brothers, Edwin Atwell of Bayshore, NY and Ronald Atwell of Ozone Park, NY. Two grandchildren, Robert John Atwell and Jackson Atwell as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Atwell and Edward Atwell.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 27, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Teller Ave. Beacon, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, February 28, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Joachim's Catholic Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon, NY.
Interment will follow at St. Joachim's Cemetery, Beacon, NY.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family to be used as a Scholarship Fund for Beacon High School Athletes.
