Fishkill - Robert Francis Duonola, a local area resident since 1981 and formerly of Carmel, died peacefully at home on Friday, January 25, 2013 after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was 76.

Son of the late William and Margaret Hustek Duonola, he was born in the Bronx on November 2, 1936. In 1960, he received his Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army.

For many years, Robert worked as a Section Supervisor for Chase Manhattan Bank. He later worked as Head Custodian for Wappingers Central Schools. A parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill, he was also an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Rangers as well. His hobbies included playing chess and watching movies. Above all, he cherished spending time with his granddaughters.

On May 4, 1963, he married Virginia A. Modica. Mrs. Duonola survives at home in Fishkill.

Other survivors include his daughter, Annette Casserly & her husband Brian of Fishkill; his granddaughters, Ashley & Ella Casserly; his siblings, Richard Duonola & his wife Josephine of Carmel, Ronald Duonola & his wife Georgianne of Carmel, Theodore Duonola & his wife Teresa of Carmel and Genie Duonola of Mt. Vernon; also several nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives & friends.

In addition to his parents, Robert was also predeceased by four siblings, William Duonola, Madeline Wedler, Kenneth Duonola and Joanne Duonola.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
