PLEASANT VALLEY - Thomas Lipp, 72, of Pleasant Valley died Friday, April 5, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 17, 1940, he was the son of the late William and Margaret O'Donnell Lipp. Thomas proudly served his country with US Air Force from 1958 - 1962. On November 8, 1980 he married Susan Boyd. Mrs. Lipp survives at home.
Mr. Lipp was employed by IBM in Poughkeepsie in Large Systems Support from 1963 until his retirement in 1996. Thomas was an avid hunter traveling throughout NY and Maine. He traveled with the family camping across the U.S. exploring National Parks. Photography, snow skiing, and piloting his plane were enjoyed and shared by his family. Rock hounding with the Mid-Hudson Gem and Mineral Society as well as creating beautiful jewelry were also part of his life.
In addition to his wife Susan, he is survived by his 3 children; David Lipp of Pleasant Valley, Dorothy Clavin of NJ, and Maura Lipp of TN; his sister Janet Knight of Las Vegas, NV; as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service on Friday evening April 12, from 5-8pm and Saturday afternoon, April 13, from 1-4pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main Street, Pleasant Valley. Interment will be private.
