Poughkeepsie - Wallace Andrew Pink Jr., 58, a lifelong area resident, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie with his family by his side.
Born March 22, 1955 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late Wallace Sr. and Jane Podgorna Pink.
Mr. Pink was a graduate of F.D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park and he attended Marist College, where he played football and rowed crew.
A highly accredited Master Electrician with many certifications, Wally worked at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center for the past 38 years. He was due to retire on May 17, 2013.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, and most of all, spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Wally is survived by his daughter, Kaleigh Pink and her fiancé, Sean O'Connor, of Poughkeepsie; three sons, Mark Pink, and fiancée, Jessica Mackey, of Poughkeepsie, Jeremy Pink and girlfriend, Mary Butler, of Poughkeepsie, and Trevor Pink, and girlfriend, Caitlin Kirschner, of Poughkeepsie; grandchildren, Taylor, Cameron, and Hunter Pink (and another grandson due in late May), and Braelyn and Hadley O'Connor.
He is also survived by his former wife, Norma Pink and her companion, David Richard.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Wednesday, May 15th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James A. Garisto at 10 am, Thursday, May 16th at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 299 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation and burial of his ashes in the family plot in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park will take place at the convenience of the family.
