Brubaker, Jr.

Hopewell Junction - Walter Nelson Brubaker, Jr., a long-time resident of Hopewell Junction, NY passed away peacefully at the Elant Nursing Home of Fishkill, Beacon, NY on Tuesday, October 2, 2012: he was 78.

Born in Marathon, OH on December 31, 1933, Nelson was the son of Walter N. Brubaker, Sr. and Maranda King. Nelson served in the US Navy in Korea, and was a truck driver for Sewell Motor Express, Inc. in Cincinnati, OH for many years. He also remodeled homes and sold them. Nelson owned a carpet and patio store in New Smyrna Beach, FL. and Buddy's Fish Camp in Florida. Nelson was a member of the Masons and the Scottish Rite: he loved fishing, hunting, and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Nelson is survived by his companion, Julie Britton of Hopewell Junction, NY: his son, David Jansen; his grandchildren, Sarah and Neil; two brothers, Jeff and Steve Brubaker of Florida; three sisters, Dorinda Pennick of California, Irma Ernst of Florida, and Jennie Souilliard of Tennessee; and his brother-in-law, Jon Bardua of Pawling; and mother-in-law, Mildred Bardua, also of Pawling.

He is predeceased by his wife, Lorraine Bardua Brubaker who passed away in 1994, his brother, Charles Brubaker and sister, Barbara Ryder.

Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 10-11 AM. A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Pawling Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Memory of Nelson may be made to the , Hudson Valley/Rockland/Westchester, NY Chapter, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-4060.

The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate and expert care given to Nelson at the Elant Nursing Home of Fishkill.
