Red Hook - Zana Louise Delanoy, 89, a longtime Red Hook resident, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.
Born on October 1, 1923, in Liberty, NC, she was the daughter of the late Roy A. and Josephine A. (Smith) Allred. Louise married Howard S. "Sid" Delanoy on Aug. 15, 1944 in Christ Church in Red Hook, and he predeceased her on Dec. 3, 2004.
For over 15 years, Louise worked in Dr. David Block's medical office. She also worked for many years at Ferncliff Nursing Home, where she was a floor charge nurse and has the distinction of earning her RN degree from BOCES at the age of 52.
Louise was a longtime member of Christ Church in Red Hook and attended services at St. Paul's/Trinity Parish in Tivoli. She was a member of the Red Hook Post #7765, VFW - Ladies Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society- "H.A.T.S."
During the 1970's Louise played "Fifi" in the Rhinebeck Aerodrome antique airplane shows and also was the narrator of many events.
She is survived by her two daughters; Sydne Gail Swartz of Red Hook, and Bette Miller of Elizaville, her sister; Betty Rae Weatherly of Greensboro, NC, her son in law; Dale Bard, Sr. of Red Hook, seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter; Alice Bard, and her two son-in laws; Jeff Miller and George Swartz.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 24th, 2013 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook. Burial will be at St. John's Reformed Church Cemetery, Red Hook.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM.
