Rhinebeck - Mary Elizabeth (McPeck) Forman, 87, a lifelong area resident and former longtime Staatsburg resident died Thursday, February 20, 2014, at the Baptist Home, Rhinebeck.
Born May 18, 1926 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Bernard P. and Mary Brank McPeck.
Mary was a graduate of the former St. Peter's Parochial School in Poughkeepsie and Poughkeepsie High School. She was also a 1947 graduate of the Hudson River State Hospital School of Nursing. As part of her nurse's training, she spent some time in the U.S. Army Cadet Nurse Corps. during World War II.
Mrs. Forman's hobbies included reading, horseback riding, fishing, and enjoying shopping and lunches with her sister-in-law, the late Lena McPeck.
She was a communicant of Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park, and was also a former member of the Altar Rosary Society of the parish's Mission Church o f St. Paul in Staatsburg.
On May 28, 1949 in St. Paul's Church, Staatsburg, she married George E. Forman Jr. Mr. Forman survives in Staatsburg.
After marrying George, Mary stayed home and raised a family. A role that is often underestimated, Mary was proud to be a homemaker.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Timothy J. Forman and wife, Lynn, of Staatsburg, and William R. Forman of Colorado Springs, CO; Sister-in-law, Rita Jean Forman of Wiccopee, MA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by seven brothers, Hugh, Howard, Arthur, Bernard Jr., Donald, Robert, and Kenneth McPeck.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours and cremation has taken place.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Brendan Fitzgerald at 10 am, Tuesday, February 25th at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Her ashes will be interred in the family plot in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park in the Spring.
