Edith D. Eastwood
Hyde Park - Edith D. Eastwood, age 89, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Vassar Brother's Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
Edith was born in Beacon on November 8, 1924 to the late Albert and Helen Watts Davis. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald E. Eastwood, who passed away in 1993.
She graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and the Barbizon School of Modeling. Edith studied Astrology in NYC, was an Astrologer and taught classes in the subject. She had a passion for fashion, was a talented artist, and served as treasurer for the IBM Art Club, where she also taught art classes. She also was a Co-Owner of the Valkill Art Gallery in Hyde Park. She studied religion, origin of life and the universe where her home served as a large library to many subjects.
Edith was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She was kind and generous, always seeking the good in people and always willing to help out whenever she could. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by three children, her son, Dana A. Eastwood of Hyde Park; daughter, Janis E. Spinks of Hyde Park; and son, Craig C. Eastwood and his wife, Silvana E. Eastwood, of Poughkeepsie; and her younger sister, Doris Halstead of Poughkeepsie; as well as seven grandchildren, Athena Velie Eastwood, Ashlee Eastwood, and Alysa Eastwood all of Virginia; Craig (Jason) Spinks of Hyde Park; James Spinks and his wife, Stacie, of Colorado Springs, CO; Jennifer Eastwood of Poughkeepsie, and her fiancée Peter Wolven of Walden, NY; and Christopher Eastwood of Poughkeepsie; as well as 5 great-grandchildren, Emily and Jake Spinks of Colorado Springs; and Megan, Hannah, and Abigail Velie, all of Virginia. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Thursday, February 27th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte 9, Hyde Park.
Funeral Services are 7:30pm during the calling hours. Rev. Arlene Dawber will officiate.
In keeping with Edith's wishes, cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.
