Helen Morganteen

Wingdale, NY - Helen Doreen Morganteen, 87, a longtime resident of Wingdale, NY, died peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2014 surrounded by her family at Danbury Hospital. Born in White Plains, NY on October 14, 1926, she was the daughter of Emma Ross Clark and William Francis Clark and the sister of William Clark Jr. and Lawrence Clark.

She graduated from Pawling High School in 1944 and from Grasslands School of Practical Nursing in 1947. On June 6, 1948, Helen married Frederick James Morganteen who predeceased her on September 3, 1978. Helen worked as a psychiatric nurse at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center and in later years, as a geriatric nurse at Lovely Hills Nursing Home in Pawling, NY.

Helen is survived by the children she described as, "the best thing she ever did in her life", her daughter, Mary Ellen Morganteen of Wingdale, NY and her sons, James Morganteen and his wife Geri, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Edward Morganteen and his wife Laurie of Mount Kisco, NY, Robert Morganteen and his partner, Jacqueline Squeglia of Kent, CT; her grandchildren, Jeff Morganteen, Allison Morganteen and Elizabeth Cimarelli; several beloved nieces and nephews and all the sweet cousins.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 17 Bridge St., Kent, CT. Interment will follow at South Dover Rural Cemetery, Route 55, Wingdale, NY.
