Poughkeepsie - Richard T. Palatucci, 79, of Poughkeepsie, died peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. A lifelong area resident, Dick spent recent years wintering in Boynton Beach, Florida.

Born April 28, 1934 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late James and Frances Kardas Palatucci.

Dick was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and the former Krissler Business Institute.

In the early 1950's, Dick was a Boy Scout Explorer Leader in Poughkeepsie.

He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He worked for IBM in management for 37 years; retiring in 1991 from Kingston. After his retirement from IBM, he worked at Sweet's Funeral Home in Hyde Park.

While his son, Tom, was active in Hyde Park Little League, Dick served as a coach and league officer. He was also a CYO basketball coach at Regina Coeli Parish in Hyde Park.

An avid golfer, Dick was active in the Regina Coeli Men's Golf League for approximately 40 years.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Poughkeepsie.

On December 26, 1956 in St. Mary's Church, Poughkeepsie, he married Mary E. Le Clair. Mrs. Palatucci predeceased him on November 8, 2010.

Survivors include his son, Thomas R. Palatucci and companion, Nadine Menti, of Rhinebeck; daughter, Lorraine Cozino of Virginia; and two grandsons, Gilbert and Richard Cozino of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Dick was predeceased by his brother, James Palatucci.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 pm, Monday, March 10th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am, Tuesday, March 11th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 97 Mill Street, Poughkeepsie.

Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
