Everesto Masiero

Wingdale, NY - Everesto Richard Masiero, 91, a lifelong resident of Wingdale, NY, died on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT. Mr. Masiero was a correction officer at Green Haven Correctional Facility for 25 year retiring in 1976.

Born on July 8, 1922 in Dover Plains, NY, he was the son of the late Aristide and Catherine (Sostizzo) Masiero. Mr. Masiero proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On October 26, 1946 in Meriden, CT he married Albina Busa who survives at home.

Mr. Masiero was a life member of the Chestnut Ridge Rod and Gun Club, J.H. Ketcham Hose Company and American Legion Post # 1949 in Wingdale, NY. He was also a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Dover Plains, NY and a member of the Pawling Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, William Masiero (Lisa) of Wingdale, NY; two daughters, Jeanne Ann LaFalce (James) of Staatsburg, NY and Diane Marie LaFalce (Anthony) of Wilmington, NC; a brother, Aristide Masiero of Dover Plains, NY; four sisters, Ceil D'Angelo of Rescue, CA, Claudia Sina of Dover Plains, NY, Enes Pezzato of Dover Plains, NY and Jean Coe of Sharon, CT; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Mrs. Masiero was predeceased by a son, Everesto Masiero, Jr., two brothers, Raymond and Armando Masiero and two sisters, Rose Sartori and Agnes Masiero.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. The American Legion Post #1949 will conduct services at 7:15 p.m. at the funeral home. The J.H. Ketcham Hose Company will conduct firematic services at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 62 Mill St. Dover Plains, NY with the Fr. Anthony Giuliano officiating. Burial will follow at South Dover Rural Cemetery in Wingdale, NY with full military honors.
