Eugene S. "Gene" Anolick

POUGHKEEPSIE - Eugene (Gene) Anolick, 87, died suddenly and unexpectedly at Vassar Brothers Medical Center Wednesday, March 26.

He was a well loved and respected husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, physicist, ballroom dance teacher and friend.

He was born December 19, 1926 in Brooklyn NY, the son of Samuel and Lena Anolick. During World War II he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Tidewater.

He met his wife of 64 years, Naomi Cogan in 1948 at the beginning of their senior year at Brooklyn College. They were graduated together in June and married September 3, 1949.

Immediately after the marriage they moved to Pittsburgh, PA where Gene continued his studies at Carnegie Institute of Technology. After graduation he worked as a physicist for G.E. in Pittsfield MA and Louisville, KY. Finally in 1968 he moved to Poughkeepsie working for IBM until his retirement in 1989.

After his family, his two great interests were ballroom dancing and all things scientific. With Naomi he founded their studio, Love To Dance. They taught ballroom dancing throughout Dutchess County, the Catskills and on cruise ships. He loved teaching, made it fun and even people with "two left feet" succeeded. He treasured all the wonderful people and friends he made teaching dancing. He was a founding member of the Mid Hudson Valley Ballroom Dance Club.
