Fishkill - Theodore L. Morris, a Fishkill resident since 1961, died suddenly on Friday, March 28, 2014 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 84.
Son of the late Louis and Dora Chaplain Morris, he was born in Peekskill on December 29, 1929. In 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and as a Military Intelligence Office, he worked for the NSA, specializing in cypher coding at the Pentagon. He was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant in 1955.
For 40 years, Ted worked as an advertising executive for WHUD and WLNA radio stations, retiring in 1994.
On December 27, 1953, he married Thelma Gilleo at Church of the Assumption in Peekskill. He was predeceased by his wife on January 12, 1990.
He is survived by his daughter, Diana Morris & her husband Philip Duro of Wappingers Falls; his son, Peter Morris of New Paltz; his grandson, Nicholas Morris of New Paltz; and his brother, Louis Morris, Jr. of Montrose.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Valerie Morris in 2011, and several siblings including his twin brother, Peter.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 30 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 31 at the funeral home, where the U.S. Army will conduct Military Honors.
