Hyde Park - Kenneth G. Stark, 85, of Hyde Park passed away Thursday morning, April 10, 2014, at Vassar Brothers Hospital, Poughkeepsie.

Ken was born in Massena, N.Y., son of the late Hubert and Pheby Cummings Stark. Ken served his country in the US Army Airforce after graduating from Massena High School, and later graduated from St. Lawrence University.

Ken married Elizabeth (Betty) (Mulcahy) Hunter on February 3, 1973 and they celebrated a wonderful and loving 41 years of marriage. Ken, a clinical chemist, retired from at Mid-Hudson Medical Group as Laboratory Manager in 1991. After retirement, Ken taught biology and chemistry at Marist College and Dutchess Community College for several years.

In addition, Ken enjoyed a full retirement keeping himself busy with his love of the outdoors, and his many hobbies including painting, wood carving, and hunting. He also loved to travel, and was fortunate to be able to travel and cruise the world with Betty. He was actively involved in the American Legion, Hudson Valley Wood Carvers, Rhinebeck Reform Church Artist Group, Artists' Collective of Hyde Park, and other local associations. Ken was awarded Dutchess County Senior Citizen of the year in 2003. Ken was most proud of his two-year restoration of the 1888 Odell Organ at the Reformed Dutch Church of Hyde Park.

In addition to his wife, Betty, Ken is survived by his step-children, Keith Hunter of Concord, NH, Kathleen (Brett) Scott of Anaheim, CA, David (Paula) Hunter of Mountain View, CA, and Kenneth (Cara) Hunter of Jupiter, FL; grandchildren, Sabrina and Eric Hunter of Amherst, NH, Kelsey, Rachel, and David Scott of Anaheim, CA, and David Ian Hunter of Mountain View, CA; great-granddaughter, Leana Hunter of Amherst, NH; sister-in-law, Faith Stark of Albany, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his identical twin brother, Keith of Albany; and his sister, Ruth McAllister of Snohomish, WA.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, April 15th from 4pm to 7pm at Sweet's Funeral Home, located at 4365 Albany Post Road (Rte. 9), Hyde Park, NY 12538.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 16th at 10am at The Reformed Dutch Church of Hyde Park located at 4408 Albany Post Road (Rte. 9). Interment will follow at a later date. Services will be performed by Rev. Don Heringa and Rev. Luis Perez.
