Eunice E. Gardner Ward

PLEASANT VALLEY - Eunice E. Gardner Ward, 81, a lifelong area resident, died on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Poughkeepsie on August 17, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Eunice (Munson) Duclos. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Melvin Gardner, Jr. on April 28, 1960 and her second husband, Raymond Ward on August 18, 2010.

Eunice had been employed as a clerk at Hopewell Pharmacy until her retirement. She also worked in the bookkeeping department at a local car dealership. She was a member of the Hopewell Reformed Church. She loved gardening, baking, traveling, and making strawberry jam.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mel and Adela Gardner of Hopewell Junction, Alan and Darlene Gardner of Hopewell Junction, and Donna and John Breault of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Steven, Lauren, Michael, Mike, Lisa, Barbara, Ryan, and Jessica; her 12 great-grandchildren; her siblings and their spouses, Nelson "Duke" and Peggy Duclos, Ronald and Carol Duclos, Dorothy and George Hennessy, and Elwood "Skippy" Duclos; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 - 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11am at the funeral home followed by interment at Hopewell Cemetery.
