Rhinebeck - George E. Forman Jr., "Red," 89, a Staatsburg resident for over 80 years, died Wednesday April 23, 2014, at Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck.

Born January 24, 1925 in Mechanicville, NY, he was the son of the late George E. Forman Sr. and Dorthea M. Bodenstein Forman.

Red was a graduate of the former Staatsburg Union Free School.

He was employed at Western Publishing Company until the Poughkeepsie plant closed in 1983, and then worked at Dinsmore Golf Course in Staatsburg as a starter and cashier for many years.

George was a communicant of Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park and the parish's mission Church of St. Paul in Staatsburg.

On May 28, 1949 in St. Paul's Church, he married Mary Elizabeth McPeck. Mrs. Forman predeceased him on February 20, 2014.

Red is survived by his two sons, Timothy J. Forman of Staatsburg, and William R. Forman of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter-in-law, Lynn Forman of Staatsburg, whom he loved as his own daughter, sister-in-law, Rita Jean Forman of Chicopee, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Pete and Jim Forman, and sister, Pat Lawrence.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours and cremation has taken place.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Brendan Fitzgerald at 10 am, Monday, April 28th at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

His ashes will be interred along with his wife's in the family plot in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Northern Dutchess Hospital for their care and compassion.
