Steve Drivas

POUGHKEEPSIE - Steve Drivas, 67 of Poughkeepsie, died on Monday, May 5, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Greece on August 6, 1946, he was the son of the late Yiorgos and Andonia Koulouris. Steve emigrated to the United States in 1962 at the age of 16 with one dollar in his pocket.

On March 9, 1975 in Greece he married Margarita Drivas. Mrs. Drivas survives at home.

Mr. Drivas along with his wife Margarita were the proprietors of Pete's Famous Restaurant on Main St. In Poughkeepsie for many years. Steve was a gentleman who would help or do anything for anyone. He was a loving and caring family man.

He was a parishioner of Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church in Poughkeepsie.

He was the devoted husband of Margarita Drivas; loving father of George Drivas and Kyle of Poughkeepsie and Jim Drivas and his wife Marial Vespa of Pleasant Valley; dear grandfather of Salvator, Giorgio, Sotirios and Margaret; and brother of Stravoula Panorios. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.Steve was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Panagiota Drivas and Dorathea Tourlas.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7 from 4-8 pm at Parmele, Auchmoody and Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 8 at 10 am from Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, 140 S. Grand Ave., Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
