Alan B. Christian

New Paltz - Alan B. Christian, 58, of New Paltz, NY, passed away in the comfort and care of his wife, Kathleen, on Friday, May 9, 2014, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY.

Born in Cold Spring, NY, he was the son of the late John and the late Elizabeth Barger Christian. He married Kathleen Minutolo on June 29, 2012, on a lovely evening at the Newburgh waterfront.

He retired from the New York State Thruway Authority in May of 2013 after 38 years of service. Alan loved travelling with Kathy to Las Vegas and Charleston, SC. He was an avid hunter and a member of the Walden Sportsman's Club and the NRA. He enjoyed going to his grandson Anthony's football, baseball, and CYO basketball games.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen Christian, New Paltz, NY, daughter, Gina Marie Nittolo of New Paltz, NY, a son, Stephen Minutolo of Milwaukee, WI, a sister, Gail Byrnes of Buford, GA,

Brother, John and his wife Donna Christian of Beacon, NY, grandson, Anthony Nittolo of New Paltz, NY; granddaughter, Ryleigh Settle of Milwaukee, WI; sister-in-law, Patti & husband Jeff Koonz of Goodman, MS; sister-in-law, Marianne Egan & companion Robert Lavin of Perkasie, PA; several nieces and nephews, and a very dear friend, William Ayers, Kingston, NY. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother-in-law, Garrett Byrnes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 10:00 am at

St. Joseph's Church, 34 South Chestnut Street, New Paltz, NY. Entombment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh. Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, from 6pm to 8pm at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, NY 12561.
