Herman "Al" Frahm

POUGHKEEPSIE - Herman A. "Al" Frahm, 84, passed away May 20, 2014 at home in Poughkeepsie. He was born July 18, 1929 in Jersey City, NJ to Herman J. and Mary Youakin Frahm. He married Mary Jane Rimmer and she survives him at home. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Al attended the City College of San Francisco where he received his associate degree. He was employed for 35 years as a R.A.S. Engineering Manager for IBM Poughkeepsie. Starting in 1956, he retired in 1990. Al was an active member of St. Martin de Porres Church where he served as a Trustee, Lector, Eucharistic Minister and he worked on the St. Joseph's Worker Committee. He was always there to help with anything that needed to be done for the Church. He was a past Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator and member of the 4th Degree of the K of C #7551 and a member of IBM Quarter Century Club and Habitat for Humanity. He earned certificates in Oil Burner Servicing and Cabinet Making from the adult program at B.O.C.E.S. Al was an avid bowler in the IBM Maine League for many years. He enjoyed golf, tennis, dinners at Good Fellas and breakfast at the Bagel Shop. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed by all. Al is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law John & Eileen Frahm of Woodstock, NY and Mark & Theresa Frahm of Spring, TX; Daughter Mary Ellen Frahm-D'Amico of Saugerties, NY; sisters Martha Suhr of Seacaucus, NJ and Ruth O'Connell of Palm Coast, FL; grandchildren Adrianna, Vanessa, Cassondra, Shanni, Amelia, Zachary, Brandon & Shelby; great-grandchild Terry and he was "Uncle Sonny" to several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Gloria MacCormick. Calling hours will be held at Wm. G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 on Sunday, May 25, 2014 from 2-6pm and will include a Memorial Service by K of C #7551 at 5:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 26, 2014 at 11:30am at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Poughkeepsie. Memorial Donations may be made to St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
