Ralph C. Muller

HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Ralph C. Muller departed this life at the age of 81 on June 10, 2014.

Born on November 30, 1932 in Mount Kisco, NY, he was the son of Arnulf and Hedwig (Ising) Muller of Quaker Hill, Pawling, NY.

A 1950 graduate of Pawling High School and 1952 of Westchester Community College, he served in the United States Army as a Tank Instructor in Maryland. In 1960, he received a BME degree from Clarkson College of Technology at Potsdam, NY. His professional career at the former Texaco Research Center in Glenham, NY spanned over 40 years, retiring as a Senior Project Mechanical Engineer.

Ralph and his future wife, Greta Wirth, first met as teenagers in 1950, while she was an exchange student from Germany. They met again 10 years later and on April 15, 1961 they were married in Greta's hometown of Dilsberg, Germany.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 53 years; his daughter Petra Sagliano, her husband Don and their daughter Danielle of Pleasant Valley, NY; and his son Raymond C. Muller, his companion Lois See and her daughter Hailey of LaGrange, NY. He is also survived by a brother, Peter Muller and his wife Louise of Bealeton, VA; his sister-in-law, Sharon Muller of Quaker Hill, Pawling, NY; two nieces, three nephews and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Marten Muller of Quaker Hill, Pawling, NY.

For many years, Ralph enjoyed taking his family on boating trips on the Hudson River and on Candlewood Lake, CT. From 1986 through 2013, Ralph and Greta took many trips in their motorhome, swimming and walking along the ocean shore, visiting and exploring beautiful and interesting places, sharing wonderful memories. The favorite place in his home was his garage, where he repaired, improved and built many things mechanical. He was a frequent visitor at antique car shows, and over the years enjoyed several of his own.

The family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to Taylor Vanderley, CNA, for her skillful and compassionate care for Ralph and to the nurses of Hudson Valley Hospice for their assistance and guidance.

His family was the center of Ralph's life. He was a beloved and dedicated husband, a proud and loving dad and poppi who will be missed and loved always.

There will be no calling hours and funeral arrangements are private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ralph's memory to Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538 or to Hospice Foundation, Inc., 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 are appreciated.
