Poughkeepsie - Patricia A. Howard, 73, a kind, loving, simple and gentle woman and lifelong Poughkeepsie resident, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie with her family by her side.
Born October 22, 1940 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lillian Greenley Quinlan.
Patricia was a 1959 graduate of Arlington High School.
On May 10, 1960 in Poughkeepsie, she married Gregory R. Howard. Mr. Howard survives at home.
A homemaker, Patricia loved children dearly and they were a big part of her life. She dedicated her life to raising her six children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Howard was an expert at making arts and crafts; she loved making owls, cows, and stuffed bunnies. Patricia won several awards for homemaking and home decorating in high school.
She also had a devout love of Canada where her mother was born and raised. She has many Canadian relatives.
In addition to her husband, Gregory, she is survived by her six children, Kevin Howard and wife, Dott, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Eric Howard of Poughkeepsie, Mark Howard of Fishkill, Kim Sutton and husband, Mark, of New Paltz, Susan Owen and companion, Michael Sullivan of Poughkeepsie, and Cindy Reifenberger and husband, John, of Poughkeepsie; ten grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Ronald Quinlan; niece, Kerry; and her beloved four legged companion, Snickers.
She is also survived by many friends in addition to her loving family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her infant brother, William Quinlan.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 pm on Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Funeral Services are 10 am, Monday, July 7th at the Funeral Home. Rev. Arlene Dawber will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Lawn Crypt Garden of Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
