Mary B. Cable Obituary
Mary B. Cable

Beacon - Mary B. Cable, a lifelong resident of Beacon, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 6, 2014. She was 86.

Mary was born in Beacon to Peter and Irene Groza. She married Frank J. Cable on July 31, 1948 at St. Joachim Church, Beacon. Frank predeceased her on December 11, 1998. They had celebrated their 50th anniversary that July with a family vacation in Long Beach Island, NJ. Mary was a lifelong member of St. Joachim - St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon and a former member of the St. John's Mothers Club.

Mimi enjoyed planting and caring for her flower gardens. In her younger days she loved taking walks in the woods near her longtime home on Shale Road or over the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge with her grandson. Mimi was an avid Women's College & Professional Basketball Fan. She enjoyed watching the games on TV, especially UCONN and the Lady Vols.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Claudia A. Haug and her husband, Mark of Beacon and Eileen B. Cable and her partner, Gail Hulsen of Clearwater Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Jordan T. Haug and Logan E. Haug, both of Beacon and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by her siblings, Anne Cable, Rose Athern, Earl Groza and Michael Groza.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren, Jordan T. Haug, an attorney in Wappingers Falls, and her granddaughter, Logan E. Haug, a college student at Florida Gulf Coast University in Ft. Myers, FL. She played a major role in both their lives, providing a fun, imaginative and loving place in her home as their favorite babysitter. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon. Burial will follow at St. Joachim Cemetery, Beacon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
