PLEASANT VALLEY - Marie Louise (Tooker) Luzzi died on July 8th peacefully at Mid-Hudson Regional at the age of 94. She was the daughter of Kenneth V. and Marie L.Tooker, Sr. Her father delivered her at their home in Brooklyn in 1919. After graduating from Erasmus Hall High School in 1938, she moved to Pleasant Valley with her family. She met Joseph T. Luzzi and they were married in the Netherwood Baptist Church, Salt Point in 1942. They built their home together, raised their family and lived out their days in Pleasant Valley. They were married 65 years. Marie was predeceased by her parents, sisters Doris and Elsie, husband Joseph T. Luzzi, son Joseph Luzzi, and daughter-in-law Linda. Marie is survived by her brother Kenneth V. Tooker (Claire), daughter-in-law Susan, son Thomas (Christine), daughter Theodora Southworth (Wayne), grandchildren Kathy, Kim, Keisha, Britt, Tracy, Jodi, Mark, Tom, Henry, Carl, and Christina; great-grandchildren Ryan, Courtney, Kyle, Brett , Gavin, Maximus, Charlotte, Elijah, and Jonathan; nephews and nieces Kenny, Gregory, Randy, Babette, and others.
Marie loved her family and was involved in all their activities. She spent a number of years as a dog obedience handler and instructor winning several championships with her Sheltie. Later in life, she and Joe traveled the world for months at a time. They hiked through much of these countries: Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Europe, and a great part of the United States. She was a very creative woman and made life exciting with her ideas. Her gardens were an example of her love for color. She had a wonderful sense of mixing colors in all aspects of her life. In addition, she loved people from everywhere and delighted in making friends wherever she went. Her spirit of adventure and her zest and enthusiasm for living was a great legacy to her family. In her 90's she continued exercising with weights, gardening and was active in the Pleasant Valley Seniors group. She will be greatly missed by everyone. The family would like to thank the doctors and the nursing staff on the 5th floor of Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital for their care, comfort and patience.
Memorial donations in her name may be given to the Pleasant Valley Free Library, 1584 Main St., PO Box 633, Pleasant Valley, NY 12569. Funeral arrangements will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Allen Funeral Home, Pleasant Valley.
