Susan VonGonten

Hyde Park - Susan Jane Bolitho VonGonten, 69, a resident of Hyde Park and previously of West New York, New Jersey, entered into rest at home on Thursday, July 31, 2014.

Daughter of the late William K. Bolitho and Vera Zavracky Bolitho, she was born on June 24, 1945 in Jersey City, New Jersey. She was a graduate of F.D. Roosevelt High School, in Hyde Park, NY, Class of 1963, and attended Cazenovia College. On October 18, 1980, she married Anthony "Tony" VonGonten in Pawling.

She was an employee of United Health Group in Kingston for many years. Susan was a certified ombudsman for New York State Office of the Aging. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and trips to the casino.

In addition to her husband, Tony VonGonten, she is survived by her daughter, Veronica VonGonten, and boyfriend, Nicholas Jimenez, of Poughkeepsie, and her son, John VonGonten, and girlfriend, Elizabeth Canfield, of Potsdam, NY. She was a devoted grandmother to John Robert Messick and Dannika Bolitho of Hyde Park, and Savannah Jimenez of Poughkeepsie. Her brother, Robert Bolitho, and sister, Mary Ann Bolitho survive in Hyde Park. Additionally, she is survived by her in-laws, Joan VonGonten of Poughkeepsie, Winifred Farley of Hyde Park, James VonGonten of West Cedar, TX, and Maria and Tony Lambe of Anderson, SC. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, William and Vera Bolitho, she was predeceased by her in-laws, Margaret VonGonten of Poughkeepsie, Eugene VonGonten of Hamilton, NJ, and aunt and uncle, Mary and Martin Zavracky of NJ.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm, Sunday, August 3rd at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am, Monday August 4th at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 185 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery in West New York, NJ.
