Arthur Brockner

INLET - Arthur B. Brockner (Brock), 83, a resident of Inlet for 18 years and formerly of Hopewell Junction, died on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Mount Vernon, NY on February 2, 1931, he was the son of Arthur M. and Katherine Bell Brockner. Art served our country in the US Navy and was employed as a manager at John Charles Limited, a retail clothing store in Tarrytown.

On September 26, 1954 in Tarrytown, Arthur married the love of his life, Marilou Hancock, who predeceased him on January 23, 2009. Following his retirement, Arthur and Marilou accomplished their lifetime dream of owning and operating a bed and breakfast in the Adirondacks, the Cinnamon Bear Bed & Breakfast in Inlet, NY. Arthur was very active in his faith and was a current member of the Wesleyan Church in Long Lake, and a past member of the Mission Church in Holmes. He spent much of his time giving back to his community, including serving several years on the Inlet Rescue Squad. Arthur was a very faithful, loving, and caring man who provided his family and friends with so many fond memories of their lives with him.

Arthur will be greatly missed by his children and their spouses, Rick and Stella Brockner of North Wilkesboro, NC, Elizabeth and Cliff Wright of Blue Springs, MO, Carol and David Jones of Pine Plains, NY; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and twin great-granddaughters due soon. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his brother, Charles Brockner; and his sister, Lynn Brockner.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Inlet Volunteer Emergency Services, P.O. Box 300, Inlet, NY, 13350.

Calling hours will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Friday, August 15 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a celebration of his life and an opportunity to share from 7:30-8:00 p.m. The burial service will take place Saturday, August 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, NY with military honors.
