Anthony Edward Snow Jr.

Germantown - Anthony Edward Snow, Jr. 86, of Germantown, NY, and formerly of Poughkeepsie, died on Monday, August 11, 2014, at Pine Haven Nursing Home in Philmont, NY.

Born July 31, 1928 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Anthony E. and Rose Porfirio Snow who predeceased him.

Anthony, known fondly as "Tony" to his siblings, and "Uncle Louie" to his nieces and nephews, devoted his life to his mother, his four younger siblings and extended family. He could figure out how to fix nearly anything mechanical, especially cars. He loved to cook and hosted countless family gatherings, and his specialties included homemade pizza, Italian cookies, and fried dough. He documented and shared many special memories through his homemade family films and videos, entertaining all. He was an avid gardener. Tony lived a life of humble resiliency, and self-sufficiency, and offered support, helping hands and unconditional love to family and friends.

Anthony proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He worked for Dairylea Cooperative Inc. as an Auto Mechanic and Dairy Refrigeration Specialist. Anthony also worked at Fitchett Brothers Dairy, in Poughkeepsie, until his retirement in 1990.

Survivors include his sister, Bea Banks of Germantown and formerly of Poughkeepsie; brother, Edward Snow of Germantown and formerly of Poughkeepsie; nieces, Coleen (Mark) Horchos, Jennifer (Bryan) Viggiani, and Stephanie Clouting; nephews, Rick Purdy (Patti), Scott Purdy, Wayne Jeszu, and Chad (Nina) Clouting. He is also survived by six great nieces and nephews, Sydney, Justin, Olivia, Isabelle, Ben, and Pepper.

In addition to his mother, Anthony was predeceased by his sisters, Marie Jeszu and Ruth Purdy.

Calling hours will be 5 to 8 pm, Wednesday, August 13th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Thursday, August 14th, at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 185 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie.

Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
