HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Rory James White, 24, a lifelong area resident, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Putnam Hospital Center.
Born in Poughkeepsie on September 10, 1989, he was the son of Michael and Virginia (Carpenick) White. Rory graduated from John Jay High School in Hopewell Junction in 2007 and received his Associates Degree from Dutchess Community College.
A waiter extraordinaire, Rory had been employed by many local dining establishments, most recently by Fortuna Brick Oven Pizza and Restaurant in Stormville and the former Avanti's Restaurant. He enjoyed music and sports, having played football for the East Fishkill Packers and East Fishkill baseball. He had many coaches throughout the years who helped guide him. Everyone who knew Rory loved him. He was blessed with charisma, boundless charm, quick wit, and a caring spirit. He will forever be remembered by his motto, "Don't Rory about it!"
In addition to his parents, Rory is survived by his brother, Matthew White of Fishkill; his sister, Kimberly White of Boston, MA; his grandmother, Helen White; his girlfriend, Karen Minasi; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his faithful dog, Zeus. Rory also leaves behind the countless friends he made wherever he went.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-6 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
