George H. Darling

POUGHKEEPSIE - George H. Darling, 80, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away December 22, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born September 20,1931 in Washington, Pennsylvannia and was the son of George W. & Helen Boudreaux Darling. George married Dolores A. Matuk on September 17, 1960 at St. Peter's Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. She survives at home. He was a Sr. Engineer at I.B.M. in Poughkeepsie and retired in 1993. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. George was a member of St. Martin de Porres Church where he was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers. He was a member of the K of C Council #1646 of Wappingers Falls and a member of the Red Fox Club. He was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox, Notre Dame and the Marist College Women's Basketball team. George was a voracious reader, animal lover and enjoyed his Cape Cod vacations. He is survived by his Son: George A. Darling & Significant Other Dawn Desmond of Wappingers Falls; Son & Daughter-in-Law: Donald & Justi Darling of Poughkeepsie; Son & Daughter-in-Law: Stephen & Jodi Darling of Wappingers Falls;

Daughter & Son -in-Law: Ann Marie & James Rhynders of Poughkeepsie; Daughter & Son -in Law: Tammy & Jon Bate of Fishkill and Daughter Mary Darling and Significant Other Saira Barrios of Queens, NY. Sisters include: Mary Ransom of Winsted, Conn. and Margaret Ciferri of Florida. Grandchildren are: Lindsey, James, Calvin, Justin, Casey Grace, Shanyn, Katelyn, Stephen, Michael, Kailey and Anna. Great-Granddaughter: Leah and several Nieces and nephews. A Brother-in-Law: Donald Matuk of Poughkeepsie. He was pre-deceased by a Sister: Martha Darling. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 24, 2011 at9:30 AM at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Rd., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Burial will follow in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors.
