NEW PALTZ - Ann McVeigh, 70, of New Paltz, NY passed away on December 20, with her son by her side.

Ann was the beloved adopted daughter of William and Lena McVeigh of Amenia, NY. She was born on January 21, 1941 and attended Immaculate Conception School and Webatuck High School. She graduated from Beauty School and ran her own salon in Pine Plains for many years.

Her second career was taking care of people, especially the elderly, and she was beloved for her warmth and compassion, her deep laugh, and her quick humor. She worked at the Wassaic State School and then cared for homebound elderly, enjoying their company as much as they loved having her be with them.

Ann had a tremendous zest for life, and loved fishing, Elvis, the Knicks, and playing Black Jack. She was devoted to her boys: her son Vernon Dwy of Pawling, her grandsons Benjamin and Samuel Dwy, and her dog Rusty. She was much beloved of her nieces and nephews and large extended family.

She is survived by her brother James McVeigh and her sister Glenda White, and predeceased by her parents, her sister Eileen Ross, and brothers James and John Peattie and Frederick White.
