Donna Barton Obituary
Donna M. Barton

BEEKMAN - Donna M. Barton, 52, of the town of Beekman died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at her home.

Donna was born November 11, 1959 in Yonkers, NY. She is the daughter of Arne Hansen and is predeceased by her mother Barbara Quatrocci Hansen.

On March 23, 1991, she married Peter Barton in New Windsor, NY. Together, Donna and Peter owned and operated Barton Orchards in Poughquag and LaGrange. Donna loved her customers and would work hours upon hours during the season to achieve their motto "Growing Family Traditions." She was loved by all her employees and was considered a mother figure to many of the young boys and girls that worked for her throughout the years.

If she wasn't hard at work you would find Donna laying under a palapa on the beach. She thoroughly enjoyed vacationing with her family in Mexico every year. There was nothing else that Donna cherished more than spending time with her grandson Kamran. She was the most caring, loving and devoted grandmother anyone never knew. Not a moment went by when she wasn't talking about him, showing off his pictures or at a store buying something for him. She was also eagerly awaiting the arrival of her second grandchild due this August.

Donna is survived by her husband Peter Barton at home; her children, Nicholas Covino of Stormville, Danielle Martins and her husband Sidonio of Hopewell Junction and Zachary Barton of Beekman; her father Arne Hansen of Yonkers; her grandmother Rose Quatrocci of Yonkers; her sisters Deborah Kaputa of Pleasant Valley and Diane Newell and her husband Gerald of Walden; her grandson Kamran Martins; her mother and father-in-law Rose and Bruce Barton of Beekman; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nephew and friends.

This poem is dedicated to Donna from her husband Peter:

"The Farmer's Wife"

The day begins with morn's first light,

For hungry husband and children she's a cook,

And not until dark at night,

Can she cease from labors look

Wherever the labor she will be

Performing tasks a thousand-fold;

It seems that always she can see

What's to be done and takes a-hold.

The wanting ones from any plight

Fruits of her toil receive a share;

And nothing gives her more delight

Than for the sick to want her care.

She labors long and hard through life,

Good deeds she's ever sowing;

Oh surely 'tis the farmer's wife

Who keeps this old farm going.
