FISHKILL - Theresa DiRusso, 99, an area resident since 1978 and formerly of Yonkers and the Bronx, died on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the Wingate at Dutchess.
Born in the Bronx on October 23, 1912, she was the daughter of Guiseppe and Pasqualina Laura Macri. Theresa lived in the Old Post Mall for many years and was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. She volunteered at St. Mary's, St. Francis Hospital, Castle Point VA Medical Center, the Westchester Lighthouse and the Fishkill Historical Society and she was honored by the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and the Veterans Administration.
On November 13, 1938 in the Bronx, Theresa married Mario DiRusso who predeceased her on November 5, 1976. She is survived by her daughters, Susan DiRusso of Jefferson Valley, Diane Castellano and her husband, Charles of Pleasant Valley and John DiRusso and his wife, Carol of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Deana, Christine, Lauryn, Marianne, Julianne and John; and her great-grandchildren, Leah, Kayleigh, Cassandra, Kaden, Lathan, Tye Cooper, John and Sophia. She was predeceased by her siblings, Vincent Macri, Yolanda Vettorino and Adeline Visconti.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:30am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
