Mareno DeAngele

Wappingers Falls - Mareno DeAngele, 84, a longtime area resident, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Vassar Bros. Medical Center, Poughkeepsie.

Born in Reno, Nevada on April 26, 1928, he was the son of the late Nazzareno and Amelia Mattericci DeAngele.

Mr. DeAngele worked for the Dutchess County Highway Dept. for many years until his retirement in 1986.

Mareno proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, 1 Bronze Service Star, the ROK Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

He enjoyed anything to do with ranches and horses, and loved to cook.

On May 22, 1974 in Poughkeepsie, he married Irma Hauck. Mrs. DeAngele predeceased him on January 20, 2010.

Survivors include his step-children, Fred Schwinger of Cold Spring, Kurt Schwinger of Myrtle Beach, SC, Dianne Minogue of Wappingers Falls, and Dennis Manning of Montgomery, NY.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Helen.

There are no calling hours.

Graveside services and burial will be at 10 am, Wednesday, May 23rd, in the Veterans' Section at Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
