POUGHKEEPSIE - Jennie Morabito Polito passed away on Friday, November 23rd at home surrounded by her family as she wished.. Jennie was born in New York City on April 21st, 1913 in New York City. She was the daughter of Bernadetta and Sebastino Morabito who were immigrants from Sicily.

On January 31st, 1932, she married Frank Polito at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie, New York. Her husband predeceased her in June of 1996.

At the time of her passing, she was the oldest member of Mt. Carmel Church. Over the years, she was member of their Mother's Club, St. Rita Society, and the Italian Center.

She leaves behind her son Angelo Polito and her daughter-in-law, Marie Polito, a daughter, Dorothy Polito Doulin. She was predeceased by her daughter, Angelina Polito Fowx who passed away in September of 2007 and her son-in-law Legrand Fowx who passed away in January, 2011. She is also survived by her sister, Angelina Catalano and was predeceased by her three brothers, Anthony, Dominick and Joseph Morabito, She leaves behind her seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jennie was a legend of her time. She was an amazing woman and pillar of her family. Her family and friends loved her cooking and enjoyed many great dinners under her famous grapevine. She was the happiest when people sat at her table to share in her wonderful cooking which included her famous pizza, delicious meatballs and pasta, Her wonderful Italian cookies made their way to every family function. And, we will never forget her Apple Pie, Apple Cake and her biscotti.

Jennie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always there to help all of us and she did so with grace. She had a beautiful life for which we all feel so blessed to have been a part of.

Although we are all so sad to have her leave us, we know she will be with us in spirit. She will remain in our hearts forever and that wonderful woman who brought us so much joy, laughter and love will never be forgotten. She will be missed by all of us.

Calling hours will be held on Monday November 26th from 4-9pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. 218 Mill St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Wheelchair entrance is located in the rear of funeral home on Vassar St.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday November 27th 9:30am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie.

Entombment will follow in St. Peters Cemetery Poughkeepsie.
