FISHKILL - Dolores M. Karst, 85, an area resident for eleven years and formerly of Buchanan and Bayville, NJ, died after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Yonkers on October 17, 1927, she was the daughter of John M. and Nora Fitzgerald Kelly. She was employed as a New York State Supreme Court Clerk for 30 years until her retirement in 1987. She was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Wappingers Falls. She also volunteered at the East Fishkill Community Library. Dolores enjoyed swimming, golfing, playing scrabble, traveling, going to the beach and especially spending time with her family.
On April 26, 1947 at Sacred Heart Church inYonkers, Dolores married John F. Karst who predeceased her on June 17, 2002. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Eileen Harding and Patricia Kelly. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dale M. and Dale Harris of Queensbury, Bonnie A. and Michael Mitchell of Verplanck, Norine M. and Brian Taylor of Arvada, CO, Kelly A. and Michael Odestick of Peekskill, John F. and Kathleen Karst of Hopewell Junction and Brian D. and Lynn Karst of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Danielle M. Harris,Brendan M. Harris, Michael Taylor, Craig J. Taylor, Christopher B. Taylor, Kevin M. Mitchell, Sean B. Karst, Daniel P. Karst, Shannon L. Karst, Brooke A. Karst, John F. Karst III and Haley Karst; and her great-granddaughter, Holly Taylor.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
